The 3 should have the part where it sends you to deep space removed because there's no way to tell when its safe or not and it spaces a lot of people.

Pathid commented 5 years ago

There is in fact a way. I won't claim it's intuitive or ergonomic though. https://github.com/vgstation-coders/vgstation13/blob/e5d64af1d319e043ab1d7878387c051c3f4a73f8/code/game/machinery/teleporter.dm#L381

This is going on during a round but I'm fairly certain this isnt a bug due to reasons.

At least one of the deepspaced people had a bag of holding that fucked them up when you did that.

SonixApache commented 5 years ago

testfire doesn't actually guarantee 100% accuracy for some fucking reason - i've had borgs fly off into space before because of this dumb thing

DamianX commented 5 years ago

It's stupid and I'm all for changing it. There could also be some sort of graphical indicator that lets you see at a glance if it's calibrated or not. That is, whether you're getting spaced or not.

Shadowmech88 commented 5 years ago

I'd be more open to it spacing people if, when it did so, it created a portal at the destination that they could use to get back. Something startling and inconvenient, sure, but it shouldn't just outright kill them with no recourse.

SonixApache commented 5 years ago

what if it was just bag-of-holding tier inaccurate instead of 5% chance to be literally completely random

Pathid commented 5 years ago

It's not even completely random, it's always z3. There's lots of ways to improve on that.

Eneocho commented 3 years ago

This should be closed, teleporters don't space no more.
