I would keep this in if only because the FTL is fun as hell.
Main concern from OBSgang is that this instakills RPGnukies 3x more often than before, and you can 1shot any boss mob in the game (Angie, mechahitler, etc) with 1 IED and 1 floor tile.
I'd say that this specific gunk is part of the spirit of spess, but you're right in that it's a bit overpowered.
the speed was intentional to make it look nice-ish. the exceptionally deadly shrapnel was a happy accident
Would it be acceptable to turn the speed down to a sane number? Anything higher than 7 would look the same anyways, and even the cannon doesn't go over 20ish.

But it's hilarious, adds to the clunky feel of the game.

Current behavior: Explosions "throw" items with 500x speed (instant kill), but a maximum range of 2/4/6 tiles. So a slice of bread will explode your head, but it stops instantly at the 2 meter mark.
Suspected behavior: Explosions should "throw" items with 500 range and a speed of 2x/4x/6x.
Suspected behavior 2: Explosions should "throw" items with range "_dist" and a speed of 2x/4x/6x, and "500" is a debug number accidentally left in.
As an added fun fact, the current explosion behavior allows for Project Orion-style FTL travel. Just put on bomb armor, detonate a 50water/50potassium grenade behind you, and you will be propelled into space at 1500 tiles per second, which lets you find ruins instantly.
