Consider it from this angle: If the greyshit that stole 10 different IDs has them all on the wallet, you need only to take said wallet to neuter his access instead of needing to take out the backpack and do the backpack shuffle to find all the IDs.
oh noooooo not an arbitrary 10 seconds of click dragging a container to my sprite HELP ME IM GOING INSANE
I don't play sec so I don't give two shits about the 10 seconds for removing the backpack. I'm just giving a reason for the metaclub to not autodislike the idea because it hurts their wee wee feelings about muh balance.
I sense an assistant who stole the captain's spare ID, but forgot to take it off before speaking, and is now grudge requesting this due to getting outed for spare rushing when they appeared as Greyshit (as Captain).
Spotting someone wearing the wrong ID is a key part of vampire/nuke ops/changeling play anyway.
I've not played greyshit in like a month so you sense wrong. Gotta learn to tune those senses, Kurf, you're getting rusty. I've had this idea for a while and better late than never to suggest it. In fact, this is how I thought wallets worked way back when I first started playing, and was very disappointed to find they did not work that way.
I'm not going to say I didn't think this was a good idea at one time, it makes sense and saves you clicks, but it really strengthens the wallet and like others said makes it a ghetto agent ID without its current downsides. I don't have a problem switching IDs around other inventory spaces, and this can be mimiced by you "fumbling with your wallet" but this would not leave any chances to expose yourself other than being seen open a suspicious door. Would you still support this if when your character was examined it shows all the cards in your wallet? If you can access doors with them in an instant/passively surely they're already visible. Right now the current benefit lets wallets store many IDs and I don't see the immediate reason to make it best in slot. If after all that and you still want this anyway, make it grey and gadgety, add a few blue objects and animations then call it a bluespace wallet. If you then give it to science that's how you get your powergaming gear in the game.
It'd be cool (and would give a use for wallets besides RP) if the wallets could use all the IDs inside of them for access checks. You have an engineer's ID, a medic ID and your greyshit ID in that order inside the wallet. You touch the medbay doors and they open, since you have a valid medic ID on the wallet. [featurerequest]
