WIP: Comments on what could be removed or simplified #64

I am going through the manuscript commenting on sentences/paragraphs I feel can be removed or simplified in order to reduce the length of the manuscript. Also, if I saw a typo I fixed it.

I will keep this open while I make my way through it. Feel free to merge at any time.
