I just reviewed your hw03 - great job! Here are some specific comments:

The basics:

• Clearly organized repo
• Linked to the markdown file, readme file and tables and figures (side by side!) in the issue created
• Carried out more than 3 tasks from the list (all of them!)
• Report was well organized
• Good reflection in the readme, though it sounds like everything was quite easy for you apart from getting the graphs and tables to appear side by side!

Specific comments/questions about the assignment tasks:

• Good comments about process/approach throughout
• For the first task, it looks like you only calculated the minimum gdpPercap by continent (the first task asked for max and min). However, you did exceed the required number of tasks!
• You used a boxplot for task one to plot the min gdpPercao by continent. This does give a visual display of the data, but often boxplots are used to provide a visual show the shape of distribution (box) and the central value (line) -- seeing as the minimum is a single value (which is why your box plot only displays a line), I think a bar chart might have been a more natural choice for this data.
• Approach to question 2 is clean and simple, and good use of faceting to display the spread of GDP within continents
• I would have loved to read a bit of interpretation and commentary on the results (your tables and plots). What does the data analysis show?
• Really interesting method used for question 5! I found the figure a bit hard to wrap my head around, but I like your innovative way of approaching the task using the threshold amount based on the median value
• For Q6 - I'm curious why you switched the values of NA to 1 (and where the NAs came from?). Is this because there was no change, or were these just the values for 1952 (the first year and therefore no difference can be calculated)? Some additional description of your process here would help clarify my question
• Both methods, tables and plot for Q6 are an interesting approach (complex) that I would not have thought of! I found this to be very interesting and informative. My only 'critique' would be that I didn't find the figures particularly intuitive to decipher visually, as the colour coding didn't allow me to see patterns all that easily. They did, however, allow me to pick out trends for individual countries, so certainly useful.
• Good job attempting the extra task of getting tables and figures side by side

As you can tell, my main comments are regarding choice of figures and commentary on process, less about the code (you are far more advanced than I in this regard!). I definitely noted a few tips and tricks for approaching data analysis in R.

Hi @vibudh2209 ! Here are some comments about your hw03:

• I would recommend adding headers or dividing things into proper sections to make your report look more visually appealing. There are some inconsistencies here, for example in your task list you label the first task as “1.”, but the second one is labelled as “Q2)”. Bolding these would also make them stand out more and help separate these tasks into different sections.
• Good work getting your tables formatted using knitr!
• You can also change the settings with Rmarkdown in your code to turn off messages and settings by adding the statements message = FALSE and warning = FALSE.
• For your table in Q4, you should convert it to wide format (year on Y axis and continent on X axis or vice versa). Long format data is good for analysis, wide format is good for readers!
• Good coding style, your code is generally easy to read and efficient except for your Q6, it took me some time to figure out what the code was trying to do
• Good work overall!

Hi Vibudh,

Overall your repository is well organized and I found it very easy to find your homework and navigate through the assignment as the commenting was well done. The assignment was well laid out and I found the content table at the beginning and the links to go back up to the content table very helpful in reviewing your assignment. I am looking to add a table of contents to my homework assignment now! Overall, you went above and beyond and completed six tasks with well thought out tables (even using the function knitr::kable()) and graphs. In particular, I found the bullet points under each question with a synopsis of your thought process to tackle each question very informative and showed you really understood what you were computing. I found the last question you did where you looked into the number of countries with a negative GDP growth and the number of countries with a negative population growth very interesting. The layout for this section was well structured and I learned a lot of new strings of code that I hope to employ in future assignments. One suggestion I have for you is to add more details to the figures in terms of the axes titles, plot titles, legends, themes, etc. Lastly, it was great to see you tried the bonus problem of getting your tables and figures side-by-side.
