figured #7 out, it was just installing and setting up cocoapods. I added a basic CONTRIBUTING file as per Github's guidelines, to be fleshed out later.

thanks @wfalkwallace . I followed your suggestions on the swift branch, the Objective-C version won't be updated anymore (hence the PR being discarded for this branch)
