What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create an ssh -D socks proxy.
2. Set up Switchy to use that proxy (Socks v5 proxy).
3. Start iTunes and access the iTunes store, or do something that accesses the
network.
4. iTunes will crash because it's unable to use the OSX system proxy
correctly. PAC file problem?

What is the expected output?
iTunes not crashing.

What do you see instead?
iTunes crashing.

Operating system:
Mac

Error Log:

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

I am having the same issue. Using ssh -D proxy. When the proxy is enable,
iTunes crashes when it accesses the network.

I can repro this problem at will. If you disable the "Automatic proxy
configuration" checkbox in network settings, itunes doesn't crash, enable it,
and it will crash.

Do you want the itunes crash report or a process sample during the crash?

OS: 10.6.4
iTunes: 10.0.1 (22)

I'll tinker with it and see if I can find a work around...

Ok, if you switch ProxySwitchy to use SOCKS4 in the settings, it will allow
itunes to load and prevents crashes.
