Use rows already in table for group headings

We want to add collapsing/expanding grouping to our table, and your plugin 
looks to do almost exactly what we need.  The main issue though is that the 
table creates a new row for the group headings, whereas our tables already 
contain the group headings.  We don't want to drop the existing ones in place 
of the generated ones, as the existing ones have values in all columns, giving 
totals for the columns within the group below.

Is there any way to achieve what we want with your plugin?
