Maintenance? #180

Is this project still maintained? The last closed issue is from 2020 and there's a number of open PRs.

If it is no longer maintained @victorlei could you assign a maintainer, pin a message to the issue board, and/or add a warning to the README that redirects users to a maintained fork, so that the smop project can live on?

Until the maintainer(s) reply I've just created a little community space https://github.com/smop3/smop where we can squat smop3 on PyPI and integrate some of the PRs and the work that has been done on forks.

Anybody that wants to hop on board of that project let me know.
