With the Pirate Bay down, what's the plan? #77

Can we swap in https://oldpiratebay.org as a fix for now?

matteo-pacini commented 9 years ago

Might KickAss be a valid alternative?

tovkal commented 9 years ago

Best solution would be to allow to add several sites, as content might not be as centralized now as it was in TPB. I've still found all I needed in KickAss, but clearly there's less offer than there was in TPB.

@Tovkal I think you are right. Mayne the next step forward is to build in a multiple redundancy system that tries a number of sources in case any one of them goes down.

I just went into the preferences and checked it box, and at least some of my downloads triggered... screen shot 2014-12-17 at 1 40 51 pm

All base lists are grabbed from the tvshowsapp.com lists folder. So, you'd have to create your own files for it to handle. The real magic behind TVshows is that those files are generated for you (that's why when the site goes down or the updater falls over, you don't get new TV shows). It may pay to message the original dev and get him to opensource that process. Mostly because main development for this program ceased about 2 years ago (with very minor updates 4 months ago).

You can, alternatively, make your own rss feeds and drop them in (using oldpiratebay links) for profit.

Just now, only a few minutes ago, TVShows started to download all episodes/torrents missing since piratebay went offline. I therefore assume TVShows have added some alternative sources and that this problem has been solved?

Started working for me too! :+1:
