I was directed here from https://github.com/caskroom/homebrew-cask/issues/36821, cask-check-updates sounds very useful ;-). Anything I can do to help? I've got a bit of go experience, so I'm happy to dig into whatever's clever.

Thank you for offering your help. I really appreciate it!

Basically, the only thing that holds back the Go release is that I can't find enough free time to actually finish it.

There are plenty of things needs to be done, but most of them are actually required in the go-appcast library first as it will be used in these tools:

• [ ] Add support for GitHub API when dealing with GitHub Atom feeds.
• [ ] Testing the library against homebrew-cask appcasts and fixing bugs.

and in long-term perspective:

• [ ] Add more providers:
  • [ ] OSND Software Distributor (almost like SourceForge), example casks: letterfix.rb, miditrail.rb.
  • [ ] JSON, extract latest version from provided path.
  • [ ] XML, extract latest version from provided XPath.

In cask-tools repository there is a go branch. But it's a complete mess at the moment so I'm not sure if you can find something clever there.

I will try to tidy up some things there in the next couple of days.

But there is no actual roadmap at the moment as there hasn't been even a pre-release of these tools yet.
