[Feature Request] Discover TV files not in folders and move them into a folder #17

Example:

Find How.I.Met.Your.Mother.S08E11E12.HDTV.x264-LOL.[VTV].mp4 in my top-level TV folder and move it into a new/existing "How I Met Your Mother" folder. It would be even better if it created a "Season 08" subfolder and put the file there.

My goal with VMM is to try and completely eliminate Boxee's media discovery which was good 2 years ago, but not as much so today.

I did have an idea about making some kind of drop-folder that ViMM could scan and move episode files from (Like a completed downloads folder), but as long as it's raw files rather then folderized files, scanning the 'root' folder might work as well.

Detecting and moving to the correct season folder shouldn't be too much of a problem either, but matching file name with show name could be difficult if the two don't match, but I think that for the most part it'll manage.

Do you think a 'drop-folder' would work for your workflow?

I think a drop-folder would be awesome. I think it is a separate feature, though. I'd love to be able to leave VMM running in the background and then whenever something is downloaded, it would be placed in the drop-folder and VMM would id it and place it somewhere else. That would allow one to have uTorrent running with the remote feature turned on. I could tell it to download a show, it would drop the completed show/movie into a drop-folder, and if VMM can ID it, VMM would put it in a Movies or TV folder of my choosing which could be remotely mounted folders on Boxee or a file server.

Would you prefer it if I broke out these extra features/bugs into separate issues here? It should make them easier to track for you.

I think this one might be related enough, since it could probably check this drop folder every so often to ID files, while i'm working on building this in the first place. ;)

I think the drop-folder with the option of a TV/Movie destination would be a killer feature. VMM would effectively remove all of the busy work for the user.

One might have to make some 'sub' folders inside the dropbox for 'movies', 'tv shows' & 'anime', since I might not be able to reliably make a distinction between the files.
