Bloom/Diffusion location from Scatter lags by 1 frame in Resolve - Critical #155

Scatter has a one-frame delay when updating the diffusion from one clip to the next.

In the attached example, if you look at the fluorescent lights in the first shot, there is some blooming around the lights from Scatter as expected. When the next shot appears, Scatter keeps the previous bloom on the next shot for exactly one frame and then snaps to the updated bloom locations. This results in a jarring ‘pop-in’ of the diffusion bloom and essentially makes Scatter unusable.

I am using the latest Resolve Studio 18.5 update and am on a Mac Studio with M1 Max running MacOS Sonoma Public Beta.

I am applying Scatter on a clip-by-clip basis and not to an adjustment layer. It is also being applied to multi-cam clips as the interview was a two-camera set up and I am switching between both cameras via cutting the clip and telling Resolve which camera angle I want to be used in each clip. The issue remains even when used on regular clips instead of multicam clips.

Hi there, I can't speak for the public beta of Sonoma as it's still pre-release, but on Resolve 18.5 and Ventura 13.4.1 (c) w/ M1 Max we don't have any such issues!

Also, since the diagnostic logs contain the full DaVinci Resolve logs as well as our plugin logs, I have deleted them from this thread, as it could leak some private details. Please email us them privately at support@videovillage.com

Below is an exported video from Resolve switching between multiple clips and multiple presets, without issue.

@gregcotten — Copy, thanks for the swift follow up! I was hoping it wasn't OS related. Out of luck this time!

I am able to reproduce this on macOS 14 Sonoma Beta and have found a fix that will be released soon!
