Bit of background:
1. Samples are run on the analyzer
2. Results are reviewed on the screen
3. Techs decide whether the results are acceptable to release to the doctor or not
a. This is where the validate function comes in
Once a tech has reviewed the data, they can decide which parts of the CBC are acceptable and can be “validated”. We break down the CBC into a few parts:
1. RBC indices only – RBC, HB, MCV, HCT, MCH, MCHC, RDW
2. WBC indices only – WBC, NE, LY, MONO, EO, BASO, IG, NRBC
3. PLT indices only – PLT, MPV
4. WBC count only
5. Hb only
Depending on the flags from the current sample, or the previous history for that patient, techs will decide which parts of the CBC do NOT need to be reviewed on a manual slide and can be “validated”.
These options are the most common that can be chosen.
Techs can choose more than one option depending on the situation.
I envision a spot on the top right part of the screen that says validate.
A pop-up box opens up and students are presented with these options to choose from.
They tick a check box for the options they want to validate and press “validate”.
What would be neat is if they chose their options and it was able to tell them immediately whether they were correct.
#20 architecture
Updated: can specify the correct numbers for Validated runs too.
e.g. v, 1, 2 = Validated with checkbox 1 and 2 checked.
Sonja request to separate Validate from P/N in UI:
This is how it currently looks. I want the “positive and Not Validated” spot to stay where it is and have a few things changed.
I would like a new button added to the right of the Action/Error button, but to the left of the demographics. It should look something like this:
When the students click on it, then your menu appears
Sonja Requested: "When students make their selection and click on “submit”, they will get the answer, and then the “not validated” above can change to “validated”. It doesn’t matter whether they get the correct answer. This will indicate they have completed reviewing this sample and they can move onto the next one. " 2024-07-11 Changes to Sim
