When creating patches on the library it would be really useful to have the 
files available on the svn repository rather than on a simple archive.

This way you don't have to mess with multiple directories (origina & patched) 
and you can simply work on the checked out directory and made diffs using svn 
directly.

There are some more advantages like changes tracking. Absolutely needed.
