i'm imagining something along these lines:
if room A is 4 hops or less from room B
and room A has a period of idleness (say, 30 seconds)
and room B has activity
the world tells room A "you hear activity to the $direction in room B"
it's not super clear to me how to implement this; nor am i sure what the hop count should be or if mentioning an initial direction to move in is helpful.
