My issue is similar to the last picture where there is a much larger gap above the icons. It seems like there is some kind of extra padding-top or something.

What might help is that I was follow instructions from here: https://linuxhint.com/make_ubuntu_look_like_mac_os/

Everything was perfect with the whole process even setting up the dock properly. I "THINK" where things went wrong was when I ran this line as directed in the article: gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock dash-max-icon-size 40

I don't know if changing it back would fix this or if this command really was the thing that broke and it might have been broken before and I just didn't notice. BUT, if you think this MIGHT have been the issue, what command should I use to change it back to the proper amount of padding around the icons?
