Menu drop-down items on the right of the taskbar hard to read #5

Hi, love the theme. I do have one issue though. It seems any drop-down menus on the right of the taskbar are really hard to see/read when there is any window underneath of it. I think the opacity needs to be turned down. Oddly, the drop-downs on the left side, the global menu items, are better and I can read those, so I think there is a difference. Here is a screenshot of the Status and Notification Drop-Down Menu with my browser open;

No problem, I'll make a black font version or update the menu color

vinceliuice commented 4 years ago

By the way, I think turn the blur effect on will looks better!

Kandelai commented 4 years ago

Thanks, yes I just noticed the the darker text in the drop-down menus of global menu is easier to read, so I think that will work.

Are you talking about the blur effect in system settings or the one in Kvantum? I disable the system settings blur because there is a bug in KDE where corner artifacts appear. Turning off blur fixes this. I will play around with kvantum's blur settings though, thanks.

How did they implement this with white fonts in macOS? By increasing the blur?

Kandelai commented 4 years ago

It appears they use the darker text in most of the menus.

And with their new notifications drop-down, sort of a double background opacity thing...

I get this, I also want to set the font color separately, But kde plasma does not support this

archisman-panigrahi commented 4 years ago

The KDE developers seem to be very happy to implement new features and make KDE even more customizable, so we can open a issue somewhere. I am unsure which component of KDE has to be addressed, and which is the best place to request for this feature.

vinceliuice commented 4 years ago

No problem!

I thought that might be the issue, as I have not seen this done before, white taskbar text and dark dropdown menu text. I am assuming it happens in Global menu because it is probably configure that way inside the app itself. I hope you can figure it out someway. I had to switch out the plasma to another because the text and notifications became unreadable.

vinceliuice commented 4 years ago

I wish kde plasma will support this then I can do more things on themeing!

ricopt5 commented 4 years ago

@vinceliuice I think you should have the widgets background the same as Big Sur notifications background. apple-macos-bigsur-notificationcenter-06222020

This way we would not have the problem of low contrast and low readability due to the background being very light. I think this is the only reason stopping me from using this theme which otherwise is very good!

vinceliuice commented 4 years ago

@ricopt5 Thanks for your suggestion, I'll adjust this!

@vinceliuice Hi! I just wonder how to enable black fonts in drop-down items of top bar, since I noticed that black fonts have been updated but I still got white fonts which is hard to see with light background. Love this theme btw.

The Whitesur-alt version is black font version, why not use this version? @LaDecimotercera

LaDecimotercera commented 4 years ago

@vinceliuice That works, thanks!

I think it's not a matter of font color. It's some more deep-seated design flaw:
