GPL is considered ineffective for web applications #31

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the GPL doesn't provide any protections for web applications, because running it on your server is not considered "distributing" it. Just curious about the license choice.

Hello there. I chose GPL because I was concerned about someone packaging the code and re-distributing it for profit. According to http://choosealicense.com/ GPL would work for that. As far as people making modifications and running code on their servers, it's totally fine by me.
