Suggest that each character have their own favorite food, favorite drink, favorite subject, favorite activity for specific category (yoga, reading book, etc.). These can in turn influence the relationship building and potential.
Other possible favorites would be music genre, sport, to name a few.
As with traits system I suggested, you could also potentially influence your children by adopting your favorite food or whatsoever.
