Question about new releases #389

Closed zhouwjfi closed 5 years ago

Hi all,

I noticed that since mm152, there are no more releases. Is there a plan for releasing?

Best regards, Zhou

Hello,

There are releases. But we didn’t tag the upstream for a while. We are going to start tagging them again soon. You can get the latest build through Fedora project: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/creating-windows-virtual-machines-using-virtio-drivers/

Best regards, Yan.

Hi Yan,

Sorry to bother you. May I ask for some more information? I wonder if there is a specific plan of when to tag, e.g. before May? or before June? My plan depends on it.

Best regards Zhou

I cannot commit on the exact date. But approximately we are waiting to merge arm branch into master and then do some internal work in our build system, and from that point, we will be able to push tags.

Possibly before June.

So appreciated for giving this information.

Any updates on when the Releases section will be more up to date?

vrozenfe commented 5 years ago

I added to commits 285e14aee2d913e3b714b8a52674bb2b1d23f11b 9111e7b9d0b3841d1b0a63f45fe09ce4368368c9 and pushed two tags mm191 and 192 which are corresponding to builds 171 and 172 (most resent ones) respectively.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to merge the entire commits and builds/tags history from our downstream repository to upstream, unless we will decide to open the entire production branch and push it upstream.

Cheers, Vadim.

@vrozenfe When is 172 officially coming? Changelog doesn't have it yet.

vrozenfe commented 5 years ago

I can ask Cole Robinson to make it public. But I have to mention that not every build will be published. We publish the same builds that we use internally. And from time to time we need to make experimental builds that supposed to be used for internal testing or POC.

Best, Vadim.

EatonZ commented 5 years ago

@vrozenfe Ok, thanks for the info. Let me know if you or Cole decide to publish 172 (or not).

@vrozenfe That was quick, thanks.👍
