Had a recent conversation with @wmondy about this. Having STL reader (and writer) fixes would really help his research. Some of the STL files he needs will involve realizing the vascular system in the foot down to individual capilarys (~5 microns) and could easily exceed 500 GB I think.

A related thing that might be nice is STL file fault detection (e.g. identify holes in the surface) and repair (e.g. fill holes in).
