I understand theming may be out of scope of the library but nonetheless I feel examples of theming would benefit the "styles" section of the docs.
In my case I've found the styles option to be a little complex for substantial tweaking (in my case I'd really like to make everything more compact) and everything I try seems to only work halfway as some styles are enforced (!important) whereas others are inherited. The cascade of inheritance is not clear to me, either.
Is this something that may already be underway in a branch? I might be able to help out complementing it if it's already ongoing.
