Publish under own name or Visma?
It may make sense for an open source project to transition from the Visma organization to a separate organization after gaining sufficient traction
Separating out open source repos into an OSS organization in GitHub will make it more open. We see 4 options for a developer who wants to open source something (not in prioritized/recommended order): 1) Personal repo/org 2) Visma company/product org 3) General Visma OSS org 4) New org outside the Visma enterprise 5) Existing org outside the Visma enterprise
Some developers are experienced with OSS, some are not. We want to create a guide to answer the questions a Visma developer may have when they consider releasing Visma IP under an open source license, e.g.
1) What and why should I open source? 2) Do I need to ask anyone for approval? 3) Which license should I choose? 4) Where do I publish it? 5) What responsibility do I now have?
