With 48r1 bringing 101 ensemble members how do we make this data manageable to process and visualise it so it is useful for users?

Hey, so what exactly do you mean by 101 ensemble members?

milanavuckovic commented 2 years ago

Hello, You can find what ensemble members are here: https://www.ecmwf.int/en/about/media-centre/focus/2017/fact-sheet-ensemble-weather-forecasting

Thanks, but I meant in more practical terms... what kind of data and visualization are we talking about? Comparing the output of 101 model-runs in space and time?

This topic sounds super interesting. I am particularly wondering if anybody might be interested in cross-visualization of ensemble members and near real time data ...

@jwagemann, @milanavuckovic, Can I ask a very general question here, I was taking part in the "Using ECMWF's Forecasts (UEF2022)" conference as a virtual participant. I am reading that this hackathon has "in person" format. However, is there maybe any chance, even a slight one, for some kind of virtual participation? I have to admit that based on my current info, as for now, my interest would be (this is of course a kind of hope) mainly ensemble data, with a focus on sailing (as this is my hobby).
