Hierarchical histograms work. Handles the case when all features are inactive.

Only missing thing: Drawing dot glyph as dummy glyph.

All in all it is working, do you want to have a new issue for feature groups that are not already grouped together by their ids and need to be sorted?

I think that would be useful. So this feature can be merged to the master.
