Asset folder/Cutscenes mirror or a way to copy from PC port #218

Is there a mirror for the asset folder? MEGA doesn't let free accounts download more than 1.5gb every 6 hours, which means it'd take over 12 hours to download the cutscenes. Sadly I have no other use for it so to pay for a month to download 3gb feels like a waste. I know there are a couple ways to bypass with proxies/vpn, but I'd prefer other solutions if possible.

Alternatively, can these cutscenes be copied directly from the PC port? I have the Steam release.

The PC port cutscenes currently can't be used directly, as they're encrypted when not being played from within the collection. Currently, the only way to extract functioning video files out of it is to play them in the collection and copy the file while it is being played (it gets decrypted while playing but goes back to being broken when the cutscene is over). The files also don't all actually match perfectly over the originals, but fixes for both of those issues are being worked on. Also I'm pretty sure Mega's free download limit should allow you to download all of it in one go (it did for me) but there doesn't seem to be any proper documentation online on how much it actually is so maybe it's not always the same? (If you have one you can also use a VPN to circumvent the download limit)

There should eventually be an option to load the cutscenes from the collection (#203), but that's still an ongoing development.

Now, regarding a mirror; we have been discussing that on the Discord, but we didn't reach a conclusion yet.

A torrent seems to be an interesting option.

@EpicGamerNaeNae I tried again in another computer and this time it downloaded the entire .zip without stopping even tho it still says I've met the quota... image image

Well, at least I got it. Still, it'd be very nice to have the cutscenes loaded from the collection!

The latest Actions build now supports pointing at the 1.5 + 2.5 Remix folder to load the cutscenes from there.

It doesn't have an UI to update the path property yet, and it doesn't patch the Remix cutscenes yet, but that's a start xD

If anyone wants to test it out:

  1. Open the melonDS.toml file with a text editor
  2. Add Kingdom_Hearts_HD_1_5_2_5_Remix_Location = "" to the first line
  3. Fill "" with the path to the 1.5 + 2.5 Remix folder, like, for example, "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-"
  4. Save and close the melonDS.toml file
  5. Open the Melon Mix

PS.: It will only load the cutscenes from the collection if the ones from the assets folder aren't available
