@esfeder + @vizdata-f21/viz_biz in general -- here is a sample app that does the image modification all with magick. It might help streamline your code.
Just a suggestion of course, if you have other code working you're happy with, don't feel like you have to change things. But if this simplifies your code (and hence debugging) it might be helpful.
