1 year ago I'm Trying it now, so please all chime in, as you probably have more experience. However, here's a snowball.
I cloned this repo and used master directly, instead of release point. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Your_first_WebExtension Page has some info on structure and points to the way you probably used to temporarily install the plugin. (Always read source and trust by verifying)
After, it shows plugin as installed normally, but stops at the error M7111-1103.
Then I tried to remove the temporary plugin. After removal. Netflix played video normally, but without forcing 1080p.
Leaves me to believe, that something needs change on the plugin to make things better.

I'm not sure how to install the file, I've read that I need to drag the manifest.json file into the extensions, but the browser sais its corrupted, it would also be nince if you published an xpi file for easier installation.
