As of today march 20th 2024 this add-on stopped working on netflix. Netflix error: ui3013

What a pity!

juampiursic commented 5 months ago

So sad. Thought I was having some issue with the distro I just installed but no, it's not working on Firefox and neither on Chrome. Linux really does not have any Full HD streaming service, they all 720p, 560p or even SO bad like Prime Video with 480p.

Cyborgscode commented 5 months ago

it's not only the firefox one, it's all of the derivates for firefox and chromium.

As there is no error message, i assume, netflix changed the cadmium player and it's just a simple rework needed.

Any idea if there will be a firefox fix?

mattfbacon commented 5 months ago

I tried replacing cadmium-playercore-1080p.js with that linked JS file but got the same error.

Cyborgscode commented 5 months ago

AFAIK: Because its a patch for chromium inside, which needs reworking for Firefox. But it's a start.

fellow firefox users, here is the solution to continue viewing at 1080p:

  1. go to https://github.com/DavidBuchanan314/Turbo-Recadmiumator
  2. download the src folder to your desktop.
  3. go to about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox on firefox.
  4. click "Load Temporary Add-on" and point to manifest.json
  5. you should be good to go.
  6. repeat on every browser restart.
estrobink8 commented 5 months ago

@NobyDa tysm! that worked! is there any way to make this solution not have to be redone everytime you relaunch firefox? maybe to give us an xpi file or something? thanks so much for the fix again

mattfbacon commented 5 months ago

See https://github.com/DavidBuchanan314/Turbo-Recadmiumator/issues/4#issuecomment-2021559752, this has been working for me

NobyDa commented 5 months ago

@ComfortableMilk4454 I tried to package it. Firefox’s extended signature verification must be turned off before use. See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox

Turbo-Recadmiumator.zip

estrobink8 commented 5 months ago

@NobyDa thanks again for all your help. i just turned off ff's extended signature verification, now do i just drag that file after unzipping it onto my firefox window to add the extension?

install it directly from file, just like xpi

estrobink8 commented 5 months ago

estrobink8 commented 5 months ago

its greyed out when i go to install it by pressing "install addon from file"

NobyDa commented 5 months ago

@ComfortableMilk4454 Click install addon from file and select .zip file directly. If it is grayed out, you can rename the .zip to .xpi and try again.

estrobink8 commented 5 months ago

@NobyDa

and yet i have the extended signature verification disabled:

any ideas?

NobyDa commented 5 months ago

@ComfortableMilk4454 you can try using ff's dev edition

estrobink8 commented 5 months ago

@NobyDa it works in dev edition. is it not working in regular ff to be expected?

NobyDa commented 5 months ago

@ComfortableMilk4454 maybe so, I'm using ESR version, it works fine

estrobink8 commented 5 months ago

i c. well thank you for your help on this, i will be switching to dev edition so i can use this awesome extension!
