I found a connector with flat pins in an old car radio. Unfortunately, I couldn't identify the part number. I will ask on the sci.electronics.components newsgroup.
After cutting off some of the plastic it fits the SMP connector quite nicely.
Oh, I think I have something like that somewhere in my parts bin, but part number would be nice :-)
@piotr433 any news on this?
Bumping an old thread it seems that this might be some sort of a JST connector. I'm in Japan now and they are very popular in many devices. I'll have a look around the catalogs when I get a chance. Too bad it's impossible to continue the project from here though.
I failed to find this kind of connector on the JST web site.
The calculator is using some kind of pin connector, which has wider pins than a standard PLS ribbon cable connector.
As a result, the connection is unstable when using a 6-pin ribbon rather than separate 1-pin breadboard cables.
Probably some mechanic modification to the connector on the cartridge side is needed? Or we need to use a different type of connector on the cartridge side altogether?
