make unittest fails in python2.7 #33

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1." make unittest" fails.

$ LANG=C make test
/usr/bin/python -m unittest discover tests

make examples are successful.

Please try the latest version from the 0.3.x Mercurial branch from the 
repository.
