@priya100raman
Could you please have a look at this doc?
Please suggest me the changes to be done in the document. I will incorporate your suggestions if there are any.
@priya100raman
We have updated the changes in the document as per your suggestions.
Priya madam, We need a small clarification from you. Can you please tell us where to add the content of the document?
In production vlabs landing page? or In the vlabs landing page on which LDS team currently working?
@lalitsanagavarapu
Can you please check this doc?
Dear Siva,
Very well documented. Following are some of the minor changes that I would suggest to make before publishing the link on home page.
1) Virtual Labs is providing an approach to access Labs and its experiments using VirtualBox. This approach ensures the following: a) Eliminates installation of dependencies such as Adobe Flash, Java3D, etc. on user machine.
2) This can be the last statement in the document, with a reference to college cloud The VirtualBox that is provided by Virtual Labs can be used for both Online and Offline( College Cloud) versions of Virtual Labs.
3) Remove this part Ofline version : Virtual Labs College Cloud Edition is the Offline and Portable Edition for Virtual Labs. It offers the offline version of Virtual labs, experiments and theoretical content. This edition addresses the lack of internet access or poor internet connectivity across different institutes/colleges. Online version :: Virtual Labs online version can be accessed at all times from http://vlabs.ac.in. It is dependent on a good Internet link.
4) System Requirements OS - Any OS that supports Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Workstation. The machine should have provision to support Virtualization Technology ( https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Virtualization_Administration_Guide/sect-Virtualization-Troubleshooting-Enabling_Intel_VT_and_AMD_V_virtualization_hardware_extensions_in_BIOS.html )
5) Recommended Setting for the imported Box Memory/RAM size --> 2GB

@lalitsanagavarapu
Lalit Sir, Incorporated the changes based on your suggestion.
There might be a problem with Memory/RAM size, generally, most of the colleges use 2GB RAM machines.
If we assign 2GB RAM to VirtualBox itself, Host machine and Guest ( Virtual Box) both will be in hangup state.
If they use 4GB on the user machine, then it is very good. 2GB for VirtualBox and 2GB for the host machine.
thanks

@lalitsanagavarapu , Since the link is up and running at https://info.vlabs.ac.in/virtualbox-for-virtual-labs/ can you please work with Ravi in sending out an announcement mail to all the Outreach Coordinators with cc to IICs, POCs and NIC.
@priya100raman Updated runtime-broswer-virtual-labs page on vlabs landing page
Dear Ravi Garu,
You may use this communication to send the link to all Outreach coordinators and related teams
Dear All,
Greetings from VLEAD team
We now have a Virtual Box pre-configured with required Lab plug-ins. This reduces the need for students/users to understand and download plug-ins required for a lab and also removes the concern of compatibility with various browser types and versions.
The instructions for the set-up and usage is available at https://info.vlabs.ac.in/runtime-broswer-for-virtual-labs/
Please encourage your outreach team to use this and share feedback, if any.
Have a great day.
