All devices away #78

Hi there,

I am rather new to HA so maybe I am doing something odd.

I properly installed the integration and enabled all the advanced features... problem is, all devices detected through device tracker are always away, Is that something I am doing wrong or a known issue?

EDIT 20240427: it seems like hit and miss... some notebooks, Alexas and two smart life doorbell cameras are detected as "at home". Cellphones and my galaxy watch 6 classic are always away. I just noticed for example that an Echo Show is home, but an echo dot is not (same network).

Hi!

This may be due to the fact that some devices may use a random IP address when connected to a wifi network. This does not allow the component to identify them as "the same devices" the next time it is connected, because the MAC address participates in device identification.

In particular, Samsung Galaxy phones. Try to set "use the phone's MAC address" in their settings.

Interesting, I run an app in my windows desktop called wifi guard and, for it to identify hosts that are not "recognized" (based on their MACs) everything that connects to my home / intranet network use their own real macs.

Right now, my cellphone is in standby (locked and discharging), I am pinging it... any other suggestions? Funny thing, I just checked my wife's iphone and it is there (at home). Thank you for the help! Capture
