In the 4.2 version of OCP guide it says that srv records are required. See Table 4. Required DNS records: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.2/installing/installing_vsphere/installing-vsphere.html#installation-dns-user-infra_installing-vsphere
In the 4.5 version that row is gone from the DNS. See Table 6: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.5/installing/installing_vsphere/installing-vsphere.html#installation-dns-user-infra_installing-vsphere
