Support building mod_jk #5

The current schema allows for an optional target, tcnative, to build that component from the Tomcat project. It would be useful to be able to build the current 1.2 release/snapshot and trunk of the mod_jk module as well.

As mod_jk2 is retired, there is no value in supporting that module.

I'm not sure @markt-asf whether this is something that folks would be interested in promoting?

markt-asf commented 3 years ago

Not sure what you mean here. Which folks? Promoting in what sense? Generally, I think httpd users who also use Tomcat may be interested in having mod_jk included with the httpd binary. It will depend whether they work in a mod_jk focused environment or a mod_proxy focused one.

At www.apachelounge.com we have mod_jk binary download. Was on request of Tomcat users.

Thanks for the context, folks, will keep it in the radar. The interesting thing about this is less about releases, and more about the ability to stay on top of snapshot and bleed build breakage.

It also can but does not by default generate tcnative connector binaries. I'm guessing you haven't seen all that many asks, Steffan, but guessing MarkT is interested in that aspect.
