Guide for "Preparing to Build an App" #506

It would be really great to add a guide that helps people prepare to build an app. This could lead to additional content that helps people begin work and iterate on their work.

What are key considerations / decisions to make
What decisions should be deferred (ideally decisions should be made when they have to be made rather than prematurely)
How can I start simple, and let the work inform the direction / architecture of the app
How can I avoid being naive about architecture?

Currently mostly a copy of a whitepaper called "Start Small and Scale Fast" that might be too app-migration focused for this effort, but I feel it's a possible starting point.
