Curiosity about the j7xelte build #2

Hello, I've wanted to try to apply this to my own SM-J710FN, and even attempted to compile some of the things from scratch. Of course, it failed, and I decided to apply everything that's been pre-compiled. It "worked" to some extent, right now I'm struggling to make the phone work with an external Wi-Fi dongle (chipset RTL8188EUS), but to no avail...

I was wondering more or less if you've got the time or interest to help me out to understand the how-to and other interesting steps behind this, since it's a really interesting project, especially with how the whole process goes beyond simple custom firmware and rooting/tool usage.

Thank you!

Hello, @MettleSphee

I also encountered difficulties when trying to use an external Wi-Fi adapter. Initially, the issue was the absence of the necessary module, which I later assembled. However, the phone would automatically shut down whenever I connected the adapter. I couldn't find much information online about this issue.

The only speculation I found suggests that the problem might be related to the power consumption of the adapter, leading to the sudden shutdown of the phone. After further research, I discovered that some phones don't have this issue, and the Wi-Fi adapter works fine upon connection. It seems this problem might be specific to this particular model.

Maybe a good idea would be to enable debugging and log saving, then connect the Wi-Fi adapter and see what’s happening. Another suggestion could be to use an additional power source for the adapter, though I'm not quite sure how to implement that.

And of course, I'm interested in continuing to study this further. I'm happy to help and receive help as well (because I'm not an expert in the field). So, if there's anything I can assist you with, I'll gladly do my best. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further and look forward to collaborating on solutions.

Thank you for your message.

Hey, it's been indeed quite a while since I've worked on my device, and I've long since restored it to default firmware, but it's not that hard of a task to put it back into a modifiable state.

I would absolutely love to collaborate on this matter, as I'm also not an expert in the field, but it's a very fun endeavor. My preferred comms method is Discord, and my user handle is identical to the one on GitHub.

Thanks for your time and for your answer!
