The app needs to use AlarmManager to ensure that it is awakened at the end
of the countdown.

Duplicate of issue 3, which had been marked fixed pending verification. I've 
tried a
number of things, couldn't figure out why the wakelock is not working on some
devices. I'll look into the AlarmManager. Thanks for the pointer.
