Anyone has a similar issue with the XMOS?
Please ignore this post, as I found out that was a DAC issue. The AK4490EQ needs to be on "software mode" in order to play at bitperfect volume and DSD mode. Set PSN jumper to low on DIYINHK dac board.
With Volumio 2 v0.981 on the C2, I was able to play native DSD512!
Hello,
After various tests with the recent DAC kit I bought, the AK4490EQ and the XMOS XU216 (768kHz), the only issue I found so far, it gets white noise during DSD playback. The music does not sound distorted, it just has this noise added in the background. Other PCM files like aiff, wav, flac, mp3 and even spotify sounds perfect. Some config I attempted during DSD playback,
XMOS shows as 'D20' on the output device Mixer Control: DIYINHK Clock Selector
First config,
DoP: Off (DSD Native) Volume normalization: Off Audio buffer: 12MB Buffer before play: %40
Results: Music playback with noise. The OLED VU from the xmos displays as 'PCM 352.8kHz'. Should be show as DSD64 since the file is 2.82MHz DSD? Same happens with a DSD256 file, there is noise and VU meter shows as 'PCM 768kHz'.
Second config,
DoP: ON Volume normalization: Off Audio buffer: 12MB Buffer before play: %40
Results: No music playback at all, sounds a few crack and pop noises every ~20 seconds interval. The OLED VU from the xmos displays as 'DSD256' if file is DSD256, 'DSD64' if file is DSD64 and so on. Should be PCM?
