"Error executing the application proper" is cryptic for me and looks like it finishes in the middle of a word.

I see two problems here:

This would be the only SHOUTING log message around. It looks inconsistent.
What if the error doesn't happen during startup, but later on. It'll still claim it happened during startup.

What about leaving it without the context here, and leaving it up to the application to construct the proper error?
