It would be cool if we could submit draft blog posts as PRs. Then other people can help edit and revise them, and give a public 👍 when they approve of publishing.

This is a pretty nice looking Jekyll theme: dirkfabisch/mediator

This is a cool article that talks about some of the pros of switching from Medium to Jekyll.

Using a Kudos plugin like this one or this one is a nice way to do the social validation like Medium Hearts.

Disqus can do comments relatively well.

Here's a pretty simple how-to for a 4 min read feature in Jekyll.
