I think this is the absolute most useful thing we could do in the next 6 months to improve site usability: write a series of blog posts on how NOMINATE scores work, NOMINATE versus Nokken-Poole, The Second Dimension (and What It Isn't), and a handful of others. This would encourage adoption too -- if journalists and users understand it, they may feel more comfortable in the scores. These will also be necessary as we plan to change the updating algorithm; we need to tell people how we expect scores to change and why, and that begins with telling them how the scores they're currently seeing are calculated.
Might make sense to explain the NOMINATE scores and give methodology on data/about page, where the data is. Could even name this section ‘DW-NOMINATE data’ instead of ‘data’, since a lot of people are familiar with the scores and might be coming to the site looking to download that data.
