Merge vip52 into release #414

We need to bring the 5.2 revision in to the existing release branch to align our documentation with those specification changes that have been approved.

Some background: There are two different branches of the VIP documentation in Read the Docs. We currently have release (which points to a git branch of the same name) and latest. The latest documentation branch is accurate and up to date with the 5.2 version. This PR is aimed at bringing the release documentation branch in line with 5.2.
