[BUG] Error loading GZDoom - C0000005 (Access Violation - tried to read address 00000000000000f0) - Solved (Update CPU Drivers) #40

Doom II: Ray Traced 1.0.2a - Release

Which game are you running with GZDoom?

Doom 2

What Operating System are you using?

Windows 11

Please describe your specific OS version

Windows 11 Pro 23H2

Relevant hardware info

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics \\ GPU: Nvidia GForce RTX 3060

A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

When i attempt to launch the program, i get this error after pressing "Doom 2" when gz doom rt is launched. i have Doom + Doom 2 installed via steam in default location (c:/[whatever program files folder, yadda yadda]/steamapps/common)

Steps to reproduce the behaviour.

Explain how to reproduce

  1. Extract GZrtDoom 1.0.2 to an empty folder
  2. Execute EXE (promted with dll check faliure): image )
  3. Click Yes
  4. https://github.com/vs-shirokii/RTGL/releases opens. download and extract to folder GZrtDoom 1.0.2 is.
  5. Replace 80 files
  6. Launch EXE (as admin)
  7. Click Doom 2
  8. ERROR SCREEN YAYYYYYYY - Also of note, if you click no at step 3 the error will still pop up.

i dont have any other version of gzdoom installed anywhere. im not really sure if i needed too, because i couldnt find any solid instruction, or one that works.

I updated my CPU Driver, and it launched sucsessfully. played it for the last 5 mins, no issues.
