Bc 1.54 upgrade #30

I wanted to go ahead and fix the original cause 140cad192019d6f7c476d2d01e0f8606dd9d6167 of this issue alongside leaving off explicit input stream buffer validation bc 1.54 has implemented. I went ahead and resubmitted the pull request.
