bibtex or ?? mishandling arxiv descriptions in book.bbl

Issue: using this bibitem in quaternions.bib, with or without "url =", and with or without howpublishedx -> howpublished (which is what my references say to us)

Nothing wrong with this bibtex entry. I cannot reproduce the issue. Please can you provide with MWE (minimal working (non-)example) that I could work on. Bibtex log file (*.blg) would be helpful as well.
