Just an advise from personal experience. As I understand there is some custom markup there. It's not good.

Use one of popular markups, don't invent your own, yet. It's faster, easier and more reliable to use some library. Just extend it for project needs. People don't like new invented things without obvious pros against other systems.

I did it myself. And now i've got tons of text with my own markup and i don't really know how to translate them to bbcode or smth.

Btw, if i write smth with underscore in the text body, your markup treats it like italic. What is wrong.
