Well, you are mentioning the ADVANCED ruleset, I am referring to the core one. Besides, a different character sheet should be donne for ADV, on purpose, in my opinion.

AD&D is not the same as Advanced OSE options. While I think you are right that the new sheet should allow the referee to tune it for how they plan to run the game, I think leaving the alignment section freeform caters to more game types than a dropdown of predefined alignments.
It would be very useful and user-friendly to have some of the details in the header section of the character sheet as a selectable drop-down box instead as a freely editable text box, especially where there is no need for freedom of choice (i.e. alignments are only L, N and C, no other choice).
