Update README docs #7

Closed adam820 closed 4 years ago

adam820 commented 4 years ago

I split out the OS build instructions into discrete sections, and added notes on building on recent Fedora systems. Additionally, added a Troubleshooting section describing how to work around libmtp repeatedly disconnecting the MD Player.

Even if this doesn't get merged, it could be useful for those seeking similar instruction.

Thanks, these are useful additions. Hopefully this stuff can be merged into the upstream repo at some point.

It looks like way upstream has actually picked up a lot of steam lately. I tried doing a merge back onto my fork but it's got a lot of changes now, that after several attempts I could no longer get it to build. Thanks for merging this in, though; the mtp stuff tripped me up for over a month.

Yeah, the real upstream https://github.com/linux-minidisc/linux-minidisc got moved to a new user from the author's personal account and we had some e-mail discussions. I'm trying to get the NetMD download support PRs pushed through there and after that's done put together some kind of merged documentation.

Great work the original repo is finally being developed further.
